Into The Blue |
|
| You may remember that in the last photo write-up, that the engine ran but made a BIT OF NOISE. Well, let me spare you the suspense. I now know what can happen if you don’t put the timing chain at top dead center of number 1 cylinder. You guessed it. The valves hit the top of the pistons!! After tearing off the heads and sending them back to the shop for valve replacement and inspecting the pistons and rod, it again went back together. This time it ran much better. Later, I will have to replace the points with an electronic module and re-time the engine, adjusted the carburetor and it will runs like a RAPPED APE!!! | |

Here is Harold putting the finishing touches on the door panel. I have never seen anyone who enjoyed sanding fiberglass from trash to treasure as much as Harold and his team. THANKS GUYS!! |
| Remember
back at the first set of photos that there was no front end! Harold and
his crack team have put together 8-10 pieces and parts into one nice front
end. Notice the lights are set and the final seam is being complete.
Isn’t life good?

Now doesn’t this look like a young Maco Shark just opening its eyes after being reborn? See the smile and no teeth? I’ll fix that later! |
| The final step before painting is to lightly spray black paint over the primer to find the little high and low spots. And let me tell you they did!! Wait until you see the next photos! The big question now is, what color should it be painted? Lemans yellow or International Blue? | ![]() |

You can imagine my surprise when I stopped into Harold's shop on day to see this once diamond in the rough become a jewel once again. The car had to be painted in the booth and out on the floor. What a mess but isn’t it a beauty? Now all they have to do is sand it some more, buff the paint, hang the doors, etc. Well you get the idea! This was a base coat, clear coat paint job. As you can see, I decided to stick with the International Blue since that the way it came from the factory. Other photos are now being developed so stay tuned for more of this “Once Upon a Dream.” photo session!!! |
